Campus ESDI Sabadell (Barcelona)

ESDI (Escola Superior de Disseny) is een ontwerpopleiding verbonden aan de Ramón Llull Universiteit in Sabadell en Barcelona. Samen met Cantallops Vicente Arquitectes zijn we geselecteerd om het ESDI-hoofdkantoor te renoveren.

ESDI is een instelling met een internationaal karakter, geworteld in het stedelijke en sociale weefsel van Sabadell. Deze dubbele rol vereist een transformatiestrategie voor de lange termijn die verder reikt dan de directe reikwijdte van deze selectie en die de consolidatie van een samenhangend, aantrekkelijk en concurrerend campusmodel mogelijk maakt. Het voorstel voor deze eerste fase van de renovatie is ingekaderd in een globale toekomstvisie: de bouw van een eigentijdse campus die de banden met de lokale gemeenschap versterkt en tegelijkertijd studenten en professionals van over de hele wereld aantrekt. Een herkenbare, open en actieve campus die een centrum wordt voor academische, culturele en sociale uitwisseling. Deze doelstelling komt tot uiting in het concept van een "Sticky Campus": een omgeving waar mensen ook na schooltijd graag willen vertoeven. Een campus die samenleven, informeel leren en interactie tussen leerlingen, docenten en schoolpersoneel stimuleert.

ESDI (Escola Superior de Disseny) is a design school affiliated with Ramon Llull University, in Sabadell and Barcelona. Together with Cantallops Vicente Arquitectes we have been selected to design and conduct the rehabilitation of the ESDI headquarters.

ESDI is an institution with an international caracter rooted in the urban and social fabric of Sabadell. This double condition requires a long-term transformation strategy that transcends the immediate scope of this competition and that allows for the consolidation of a coherent, attractive and competitive campus model. The proposal presented for this first phase of rehabilitation is framed within a global vision of the future: the construction of a contemporary campus, capable of strengthening ties with the local community and, at the same time, attracting students and professionals from all over. A recognizable, open and active campus, which becomes a hub for academic, cultural and social exchange. This objective is embodied in the idea of ​​a “Sticky Campus”: an environment where people want to stay beyond school hours. A campus that encourages coexistence, informal learning and interaction between students, teachers and school staff.
